About the Teacher

I have a Master’s degree in music education, and a Bachelor's degree in music theory and history. Through my teaching experience of more than 30 years, I have learned how best to help my students go beyond the notes to play music with great beauty. I teach with patience and humor, and I make learning fun and easy for each student.

From my education, I have gained not only a solid foundation and thorough knowledge of music, but also a thorough education and understanding of how to best facilitate learning. I have found especially useful the educational principles of Robert Gagne and of Jerome Bruner.

I perform periodically in the DC metro area for special occasions at select venues (i.e. Belle Haven Country Club, Omni Shoreham Hotel, private parties, etc.). I perform various styles of music including classical, jazz, new age, standards, and classic rock

I am a member and past chairman of the National Guild of Piano Teachers, an organization that sets high standards for teachers, and my students have won competitions in performance and composition.

Music has enriched my life in innumerable ways, and I love sharing the joy of playing music with others. I teach with love and patience,  and I help students learn to find their own inner beauty and to express it though the music that they play.
